Monte Rosso Vineyard-Block E44-Sonoma Valley
There are a few California vineyards among the multitude of excellent ones that have reputations that virtually guarantee an extraordinary bottle of wine. One of the most illustrious in this exclusive club is Monte Rosso, whose key to greatness lies in a unique combination of soils, microclimates, elevations and exposure, producing wines that are complex and multi-dimensional. This comes at a price of course. You don’t find any bargain bottles of Monte Rosso at the grocery store.
While a surprising number of grape varieties dot the 250 planted acres of this 575 acre property the oldest vines are Zinfandel believed to have been planted in the 1890’s and early 1900’s.
